The women in this town are renowned for their skill as weavers, producing finetextiles that are sold in markets and shops throughout the country.
A tour of San Antonio Starts in the small market near the town church, where products from several weavers are on display. Pieces offered include the traditional huipil, or blouse, along with beautifully embroidered pieces for household use, such as table cloths, napkins, table runners and pillowcases, most weavers have other textiles to show in their homes, and are happy to invite visitors in for a private showing. Some women offer classes on use of the traditional back-strap loom. One family from San Antonio Aguas Calientes has opened a museum , the house of the old textile, in Antigua Guatemala.
