Is the protected area more popular of Guatemala, a reserve of forests dimmed of about 2.500 acres, located on the main highway that leads to Cobán. To this reserve you cross two footpaths, the one whose route on foot lasts about 45 minutes, and other that it requires around 2 hours. Even though inhabit numerous quetzals here, is extremely difficult to see them, since they remain quiet during long periods in the glasses of the highest trees.
But although if you don’t have luck to see some of these birds, the incredible beauty of the forest is enough to compensate it your visit. Not very far from there, in the town of Chilasco, guides of the locality can be contracted to carry out a stroll by the enormous Reserve of the BiosphereMountain range of the Mines and to visit the spectacular Cascade of Chilasco, that collapses by a precipice of 130 meters. |
